Working with us

At Memorarto, every piece we make is a one-of-a-kind portrait with unique design and visual elements that bring the subject and story to life.

We work with a limited number of clients each month, which allows us to create with intention, not urgency, and we carefully review each commission enquiry to be certain we can produce an artwork you'll love.

How It Works

Enquire about your artwork

|

Fill in our enquiry form. It asks you to tell us a little about the artwork you’d like us to create, and to upload 3 of your photographs.

We'll review your form and photos, and get in touch within 48 hours. If we feel we can do your story justice, we'll invite you to make a 50% deposit to secure a slot in our creative calendar.

 Receive or gift your artwork

|

We’ll produce and print your artwork upon receipt of your balance – and deliver either to you, or directly to the recipient if it’s a gift.

Is Memorarto right for you?

We specialise in working with old photographs—particularly black-and-white or early colour prints (pre-1980s, ideally).

We can sometimes also work with more modern photography, particularly when it is clear, well lit and well composed.

If you’re unsure whether your photos are suitable, fill out our no-obligation enquiry form and upload your sample shots. We'll review and get in touch!

Ready to commission your artwork?

Click below. You'll be taken to a form where we'll ask some simple questions about your story and images. We can't wait to hear about your story!

  • How do I know if Memorarto is right for me?
If you’re unsure whether your idea or photos are a good fit, don’t worry. Every project begins with a conversation. Share your story with us via the request form, and we’ll let you know honestly if we feel we’re the right match for your vision.
  • I'm not sure what my artwork should include – can you help?
Absolutely. Many of our clients come to us with a general idea—like a milestone, a memory, or a person they love—but aren't sure how to shape that into an artwork. That’s where we come in. We’ll guide you through the process and help you choose the moments, photos and mementos that matter most. It’s all part of the journey. If you’d like support at any stage, we're always happy to chat via email or jump on a call to discuss your ideas— just get in touch via our contact form in the footer.
  • Do you accept all commission requests?
We take on a limited number of projects each month, and each one is personally reviewed before we begin. It’s important to us that every commission is a great fit—creatively, emotionally, and visually. If we feel your idea isn’t quite right for our process, we’ll always explain why and offer guidance or alternative options where we can.
  • Why do you limit your commissions?
Each Memorarto piece is crafted from scratch to capture individual stories. No templates, no one-size-fits-all. It takes time, care, and creative energy. For this reason, we limit ourselves to around 10 commissions per month to make sure every artwork gets the full attention it deserves. It’s part of what makes our work truly bespoke, and fit to be treasured.
  • What if you're booked up? Can I join a waitlist?
If we’re unable to take on your project right away, we’ll offer you the option to reserve a future slot or join our waiting list. To avoid disappointment or delay, we recommend filling out your request form early, especially around gift-giving seasons or memorial dates.
  • Can you create my artwork in a different style, like Pop Art etc?
Memorarto artworks have a distinctive, classic style created using your photographs in a carefully crafted digital collage. Check the gallery to get a good feel for our visual approach. While we can certainly reflect the colors or mood you prefer in your artwork, we don’t offer other styles. But if you love the idea of turning your memories into something timeless and beautiful, you’re in exactly the right place!
  • What kinds of photos work best?
We specialise in working with vintage photographs, especially black-and-white or early colour images. These often have a timeless quality that suits our artistic style. That said, it’s really about the feeling the image carries. We’re always happy to look at what you have and advise!
  • Do I have to have vintage photos?
Not always. Our creative style is best suited to vintage, but we can sometimes use modern shots, especially if they're more formal photography with a certain visual character. If you’re unsure, share what you have via our request form and we’ll let you know if it’s a good match!
  • How do I scan my photos?
We need at least 300dpi images for successful results. High-resolution scans from your home scanner or a local scanning service usually work beautifully. If you have questions, please refer to our Photo Scanning Guide, or contact us.
  • What if my photo is damaged or blurry?
Slight imperfections—creases, fading, grain—can sometimes add to the beauty of a vintage image. If a photo is very unclear or damaged, we’ll let you know whether we can work with it or suggest alternatives.
  • What’s the typical turnaround time? Can I get it sooner?
Our creative process usually takes around 8 weeks from the time we receive your deposit and full details/photos. This can vary depending on how quickly we receive approvals and final payments. If you’re working towards a special date, let us know in the request form. While we can’t always guarantee faster delivery, we’ll do everything we can to meet your timeline. Feel free to contact us via the form in our footer to check specific timings and what can be achieved before making your request.
  • Will I see a preview of my artwork?
Yes, you’ll receive a preview of your artwork before final production. One round of revisions is included, so you can request adjustments to make it feel just right.
  • Can I request changes once I see the preview?
Yes, of course! Your commission includes one round of refinements once you've seen the initial artwork. This is your opportunity to request small tweaks—such as layout adjustments or swapping a photo—before we finalise and print. The details you share in your initial details form become the basis of your brief. If your direction changes significantly once work has begun—such as shifting the theme, changing the subject, or replacing a large number of images—we may need to revise the timeline or discuss additional charges. We're always happy to talk things through, and will let you know what’s possible if the scope shifts.
  • Does each artwork come signed by the artist?
Yes. Each commission is a handcrafted original, and signing it shows it's a one-of-a-kind artwork, thoughtfully created just for you. If you’d prefer your piece unsigned, just let us know.
  • Do you use AI to create the artworks?
Every Memorarto portrait is designed and composed entirely by our artist Craig Baxter using photography sourced from clients and other visual elements drawn from image libraries or created by Craig. We do use some advanced tools, such as the AI-assisted features in Photoshop, to help restore damaged or grainy old photos, or to subtly fill in missing areas. These tools support the process, but the creative vision, composition, and final result are all entirely human-made.
  • I’m in the US—can I order in standard American sizes like 8x10 or 11x14?
Absolutely. Our fine art printer offers both UK/EU and US standard sizes, and since each piece is bespoke, we can adjust the final print to suit your preferences. Just let us know the dimensions you need, and we’ll work with you to make it a perfect fit.
  • Can I get extra prints of my artwork?
Yes, of course! You can order additional prints at any time, whether for family members, your second home, or as a gift. Just let us know how many you’d like when confirming your commission.
  • Do you offer framing?
For our UK customers, we can arrange custom framing of exceptional quality, thanks to our fine art printing partners in Hertfordshire. Just let us know, and we’ll help you create a bespoke framing solution tailored to your artwork and style. For international customers, unfortunately this isn't a service we offer currently.
  • Do you ship internationally?
Yes, we ship worldwide using a tracked service. See the Shipping section in our Pricing page for costs.
  • What about customs charges?
If you're ordering from outside the UK, your country may charge import duties, VAT, or GST when your artwork arrives. These fees are set by your local customs office and are the buyer’s responsibility. We’ll clearly label your parcel as an original artwork, which can reduce or remove customs charges in many regions, but every country is different. If you’d like to check in advance, we recommend contacting your local customs office.
